Breaking Bread Together The Australia Day 2019 art activity is about the power of food to build bridges between communities by sharing meals and recipes. Sohail Yamin, a local City of Casey artist, is again driving this community engagement activity to get people from diverse communities to be involved. On the day he will have an artwork people will engage with and the theme is about Breaking Bread Together. The "Breaking Bread Together' art activity will include four panels with an overall dimension of 2.4m x 1.2m. The brightly colored artwork signifies foods journey from sea, land and air to our plates, with white outline images showing various types of foods (including some bush tucker) and the word 'food' written in different languages. People will be invited to write their favourite dish and sign on the day. The recipe card will be printed beforehand and distributed to those who attend so they can take a recipe home and hopefully get to make the dish so they can experience food from different cultures.
